- FILA sponsored tennis players Alison Van Uytvanck and Dusan Lajovic each captured Tour-level titles this weekend at Tashkent and Chengdu, respectively.
Van Uytvanck picked up her fourth-career WTA singles title at the Tashkent Open, defeating Sorana Cirstea in the final 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. The Belgian’s impressive week was highlighted by dropping just 18 games and no sets in her four previous matches leading up to the final. The win is Van Uytvanck’s second of the season (Budapest) and improves her career record in championship matches to 4-0.
On the ATP Tour, Dusan Lajovic captured his second-career doubles title with partner Nikola Cacic at the Chengdu Open in China. Lajovic and Cacic defeated Jonathan Erlich and Fabrice Martin in an epic one-hour, 41-minute thriller 7-6(9), 3-6, 10-3. Said Lajovic of the duos’ first title together,
“We’ve known each other for 20 years and we are best friends. Sharing the court is a special thing… We shared everything together and that is what makes it more special.”
