FILA North America and Pink Dolphin Partner for a Third Time, Bringing Back the Cage in a New Colorway
(FILA North America) – January 9, 2021 – FILA partners with Pink Dolphin on a third collaboration to bring back an iconic basketball style silhouette, the Cage, in a new colorway.
Originally launched in the 90s, the Cage was created with a distinct molded cage-like design at the collar. The new Cage x Pink Dolphin has been updated in a gray colorway and rematerialized to emphasize the striking collar detail to offer a more modern look and increased comfort. Symbolic of the idea that the Cage was first worn on fenced-in outdoor basketball courts, the inside tongue features a woven label with ‘The Cage’ in front of a chain link fence graphic, which was illustrated by Pink Dolphin. Additional branding includes Pink Dolphin and FILA logo hits on the tongue, midsole and sockliner. Completing the silhouette is a tri-color midsole in the colors Aruba blue, fiery coral and electric blue.
The two brands first teamed up in 2015 to collaborate on the FILA classic basketball style. The limited-edition Cage featured a sleek all-white premium tumbled leather upper and back cage, and completed with the same tri-color midsole. In 2017, the brands partnered again to release a capsule collection featuring footwear and apparel. The collection included two pairs of the FILA x Pink Dolphin T-1 Mid silhouette wrapped in a premium smooth and perforated leather upper, accented with Pink Dolphin’s ‘Ghost’ logo on the heel tab. The capsule was designed in bold, French blue, shell pink, dark blue, and black color palette.
The updated Cage x Pink Dolphin is priced at $110 and available now exclusively at Pink Dolphin flagship stores and on www.pinkdolphinonline.com.
