FILA Introduces Axilus Energized: Lightweight, Flexible Tennis Shoe Blends Style & Performance

(FILA North America), March 8, 2018 – Today, FILA introduced the Axilus Energized, a lightweight, flexible tennis shoe being hailed by top players on the WTA and ATP World Tour as a perfect blend of style, comfort and performance. The cutting-edge shoe is now available for purchase at FILA.com, at tennis specialty retailers in the United States and also at the FILA store on-site at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Calif.

“My impression of Axilus Energized shoes is fantastic. The shoe is very light, has very good stability and support, but what I like most with this shoe is that as soon as I start to wear a new pair, they fit to my foot so comfortably and I can have straight away my best performance from them,” said World No. 3 Marin Cilic. “Usually, with brand new shoes, you have to wear them for a day or two, but that's not the case with Axilus Energized. They feel straight away really, really good.”

“I feel very comfortable in the new Axilus Energized tennis shoe. It provides the perfect balance between agility and stability,” said World No. 5 Karolina Pliskova. “It is lightweight and holds the court well. It looks pretty cool too!”

As the game of tennis has evolved, athletes need to move across the court faster and with greater stability, but not at the cost of losing comfort. The Axilus Energized combines reinforced high abrasion material on the forefoot with a molded heel cup to provide support. At the same time, the Energized Rubber® Cushioning in the midsole and heel offer added cushioning, while the flex point of the shoe and soft interior deliver additional comfort.

“We continue to work closely with our top athletes, as we grow our tennis footwear offerings to meet the technical demands of the game,” said Mark Eggert, SVP, Footwear Design and Advanced Concepts at FILA North America. “The Axilus Energized blends performance features and trend-driven design details. The footwear is lightweight and flexible to allow ease of movement for players, while bold new colorways will make a statement on the court.”

The Axilus Energized will be offered in two colorways for women and three for men, with more to debut later this year. The footwear retails for $110.

Additional Player Quotes
"It is important that a shoe not only is lightweight but also provides great stability, and this shoe fits the bill perfectly," said World No. 18 John Isner.

"The Axilus Energized is a lightweight shoe that not only looks great and is comfortable but is stable enough to handle the demands of today's game,” said World No. 21 Ashleigh Barty.

"The Axilus Energized is one of the best tennis shoes I've ever worn,” said World No. 21 Sam Querrey. “Super comfortable, lightweight yet provides the stability I need to play well on various surfaces around the world. I love the look for the Axilus Energized. Super clean and sleek. Looks lightweight as opposed the 'clunker’ tennis shoes in the market."
