- FILA India and Superkicks drop a special collaboration, the NH8, drawing on the journey of Superkicks founder Sangeet Paryani from Jaipur to Mumbai, the pink city to the city of lights.
From its archives, the brand has chosen FILA V94M style for this lifestyle collaboration. The FILA V94M is a silhouette that first released in 1994 and is named after its viper fang vamp intercrossing. The V94M was originally designed to accommodate the needs of frequent runners who require breathability and support. This chunky retro inspired version of the original V94M has been a successful silhouette for India and across the globe.
Every detail in the NH8 has a story to tell, including its name which was derived from the origins of the idea of Superkicks which took place in Jaipur before launching in Mumbai. The NH8 colors are a combination of the pink city of India-Jaipur and the blue seas of Mumbai. These opposites are balanced by black signifying the highway that connects these two cities. Further details include the use of reflective materials (pixel pattern borrowed from Superkicks brand identity), debossed coordinates of Superkicks Mumbai store, unique numbering and forged metal components.
“The opening of the first Superkicks store in Mumbai was a significant moment in time for the community of people who love footwear and streetwear, the NH8 is representative of this journey. We spent a long time working on this concept, scrapping many options and tweaking all sorts of small details and on a personal level I feel ecstatic about the way are able to tell the story through the product”, said Rohan Batra, MD, Cravatex brands Limited the Licensee for FILA in India.
On the collaboration, Sangeet Paryani, Founder, Superkicks added, “The idea for Superkicks was born in a place I thought was most unlikely - my hometown Jaipur. Jaipur acted as the drawing board for all that is Superkicks today. I knew that for this idea to come to life, I’ll need to venture out of Jaipur. This journey led me to Mumbai, and NH8 became symbolic of my idea and the path towards making it a reality. This collaboration between FILA x Superkicks represented through V94M NH8 stands testimony to this journey. They are an ode to those pivotal journeys that make us who we are.”
Launching on 16th November, only 90 pieces will be dropping exclusively at Superkicks Mumbai and Bangalore and will be priced at INR 8999.
To top it off, the shoe box is multi-functional and environmentally friendly. It is made with no plastic, no glue, minimal usage of ink and is 100% recyclable and a built in handle removes the need for a carrier bagbag.
