(FILA Global) - FILA sponsored tennis player Sofia Kenin, who brought home her first Tour-level doubles title last week in doubles at Auckland, captured her maiden WTA singles title at Hobart International after defeating Anna Karolína Schmiedlová 6-3, 6-0. Kenin defeated No. 1 seed Caroline Garcia, Ons Jabeur, Kirsten Flipkens and Alizé Cornet en route to the title match.
The 20-year-old is expected to move back into the WTA Top 50 with the win – and eclipse her career-high ranking of No. 48, which she secured in October of 2018. Up next for Kenin will be the Australian Open, where she begins play Monday against qualifier Veronika Kudermetova.
