(FILA Global) - FILA tennis players Irina Begu and John Peers won the women's and men's doubles titles at their first events of the year, at the Shenzhen Open and Brisbane International respectively.
Begu began the 2018 season with a doubles victory at the Shenzhen Open, together with her partner Simona Halep. The Romanian pair defeated top seeds Katarina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova to win the title, with a score of 1-6, 6-1, 10-8.
The Shenzhen Open marked Begu's seventh overall WTA doubles title. In addition to her doubles win, Begu also reached the women's singles semifinal round at the Shenzhen Open.
John Peers won the Brisbane International men's doubles title. Peers and his doubles partner Henri Kontinen were the tournament's top seeds. The pair faced FILA sponsored player Horacio Zeballos and his partner Leonardo Mayer, clinching the title with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 10-2.
With this win, Peers, secured his 17th ATP doubles title. He is part of the #1 doubles team in world.
