FILA's Marin Cilic Wins Men's Singles Title at Queen's Club Championships
(FILA Global) - FILA sponsored athlete Marin Cilic secured his second ATP World Tour singles title of 2018 on Sunday afternoon in London, after defeating Novak Djokovic 5-7, 7-6(4), 6-3 at the Queen’s Club Championships. With his powerful serve and consistent play throughout the week, Cilic claimed the trophy at Queen's Club for the second time (first in 2012).

En route to the finals, Cilic secured victories against Fernando Verdasco, Gilles Muller, FILA sponsored athlete Sam Querrey, and Nick Kyrgios. The new World No. 5 dropped just two sets over the course of the week and saved a crucial championship point down 4-5 in the second set of the final.

"I was just trying to stay mentally in it. And definitely, it was an extremely tough match," Cilic said. "No breaks for me until that last [return] game. I definitely feel relieved that I won it and what a great week."

The win marks Cilic’s 18th career ATP World Tour singles title and improves his record to 27-9 in 2018.

Continuing the success at Queens Club, FILA athlete John Peers and partner Henri Kontinen defeated Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares 6-4, 6-3 to wrap up the doubles title, the 18th of Peers’ career. Peers moves up two spots to World No. 5 in the ATP World Tour doubles ladder.

On the women’s side, Timea Babos secured her second doubles title of the year, rallying from a set down with partner Kristina Mladenovic to defeat Demi Schuurs and Elise Mertens 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 at the Birmingham Classic.

The win is emblematic of Babos’ impressive career success in the doubles ladder and marks her 18th title overall. Babos will look to continue the momentum as she eyes World Doubles No. 1 ahead of Wimbledon.
