FILA Tennis Player Karolina Pliskova Wins Stuttgart Title
(FILA Global) - FILA sponsored athlete Karolina Pliskova captured her tenth career WTA singles title Sunday morning after defeating Coco Vandeweghe 7-6(2), 6-4 at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany.

Pliskova rolled through the field in Stuttgart, defeating Bertens, Kudermetova, Ostapenko and Kontaveit before taking down the American Vandeweghe in the title match. “I think it was a great week with a lot of tough matches,” said Pliskova of the level of competition this week. “I just stayed there mentally which is always important. I think it was a good start but hopefully I can [have] some more victories on clay."

The World No. 6 battled from behind early and regained form quickly taking the first set tie break 7-2 after conceding the first two points. She would need just one more set to capture the coveted title. "I think it’s huge for me because I did some work, but not always after you do some good work, you get rewarded immediately with a title,” said Pliskova on the recent strides she’s taken to improve her overall game.

The win cements Pliskova as the first Czech born player to win the FILA sponsored Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart and marks her fourth consecutive title match victory since falling to Angelique Kerber in the 2016 US Open.

Pliskova will look to keep the momentum going ahead of the French Open in late-May as she looks to make a return to the Top 5 in the WTA Rankings.
