FILA Tennis Player John Isner Wins First ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Title in Miami
(FILA Global) - FILA sponsored athlete John Isner defeated World No. 4 Alexander Zverev, to win the men’s singles title at the Miami Open presented by Itaú on Sunday. The win marks Isner’s first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title, the biggest of his career.

As a result, Isner will move up 8 spots in the ATP singles rankings to match his career high of No. 9. Less than a month shy of his 33rd birthday, he is the oldest first-time winner at this level.

Isner’s two and a half hour, 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-4 win over Zverev also overturned his previous 0-3 record in ATP World Tour Masters 1000 finals. He battled a difficult bracket to reach the finals in Miami, defeating four ranked players on his way including World No. 3 Marin Cilic and World No. 5 Juan Martin del Potro.

“This is the best moment of my career,” Isner proclaimed to the ATP as he graciously accepted the trophy in Miami following the match.

Isner’s win in Miami comes two weeks after he claimed the men’s doubles title in Indian Wells. He is the first American man to win the Miami Open singles title since Andy Roddick claimed it in 2010.
