FILA Tennis Athlete Timea Babos Wins Taiwan Open
(FILA Global) - FILA tennis player Timea Babos captured her third career singles title this weekend by defeating Kateryna Kozlova 7-5, 6-1 at the Taiwan Open. Babos has been on a tear in 2018, reaching the quarterfinals in Shenzhen, China, winning her first career Grand Slam doubles title at the Australian Open with partner Kristina Mladenovic, and now raising the trophy in Taipei City.

Babos only dropped one set the entire week en route to the title. In addition, the Hungarian – who is currently ranked No. 5 in doubles worldwide – reached the semifinals in the doubles competition as well, with Hao-Ching Chan.

"It’s been five-and-a-half weeks, amazing five-and-a-half weeks," Babos said following her win. "Starting with a quarterfinal [at the Shenzhen Open], winning my first Slam in doubles, beating a Top 10 player in singles [CoCo Vandeweghe in the first round of the Australian Open], and here winning another title in singles, it’s been amazing."

Babos has climbed to a world ranking of No. 35 in singles, and will play next in Doha (Feb. 12-18) before heading home to play in Budapest (Feb. 18-25).
