FILA Sponsored Players Dominate Melbourne Doubles Draw, Take Home Grand Slam Titles In Three Different Events

(FILA Luxembourg S.à r.l.) - FILA’s roster of tennis players put together a sensational showing at the season’s first Grand Slam event of the year, with a number of sponsored players securing titles in Melbourne.

After winning three Grand Slam doubles titles in 2022, Barbora Krejcikova picked up right where she left off last season, capturing a second consecutive Women’s Doubles crown in Melbourne alongside her partner Katerina Siniakova. The pair's 6-4, 6-3 victory over the tenth-seeded Japanese duo of FILA Japan sponsored player Shuko Aoyama and her partner Ena Shibahara in the championship match gave Krejcikova her seventh career Women’s Doubles Grand Slam, adding to a trophy case that also includes a Grand Slam Singles title (Paris 2021) and three Grand Slam Mixed Doubles titles (Melbourne 2019, 2020, 2021).

In Mixed Doubles, the FILA Brazil-sponsored pair of Luisa Stefani and Rafael Matos broke through to win their first-career Grand Slam title, prevailing 7-6(2), 6-2 in the championship match over Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna of India. The unseeded champions began their partnership earlier in 2023 and made history for their country as the first all-Brazilian doubles duo to win a Grand Slam.

To complete the FILA doubles success in Melbourne, Rinky Hijikata made a dream run to a first-career Grand Slam title playing alongside his partner and fellow Australian Jason Kubler. The Australian duo entered as wildcards and thrilled the crowds in Melbourne all the way up to their 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory over Hugo Nys and Jan Zielinski in the championship match.
