FILA s Timea Babos Returns to the Grand Slam Winner s Circle Secures French Open Doubles Title
(FILA Luxembourg S.à r.l.) - FILA sponsored tennis player Timea Babos earned her second career Grand Slam Doubles Championship on Sunday in Paris. Babos and her doubles partner Kristina Mladenovic defeated the unseeded pairing of Duan Yingying and Zheng Saisai 6-2, 6-3.

The triumph capped off a magical week for Babos and Mladenovic, as the dynamic duo took down a mix of unheralded challengers and top-seeded opponents to lift the trophy. After a hard-fought 3-set quarterfinal match against Samantha Stosur and Zhang Shuai, the duo cruised into the final with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over perennial contenders Elise Mertens and Aryna Sabalenka.

For Babos, who occupied the World No. 1 doubles ranking for much of 2018, the title is her first of 2019 and follows up an impressive 2018 season in which she won her first Grand Slam doubles title beside Mladenovic at the Australian Open. Babos will climb to the No. 2 ranked doubles player in the world when the WTA rankings are released Monday.
