(FILA Global) - FILA sponsored athlete John Isner became the fourth player in ATP World Tour history to reach 10,000 career aces Friday night, joining Goran Ivanisevic, Roger Federer and Ivo Karlovic.
With ace number 10,000 Isner becomes the second fastest player to reach the mark, needing only 596 career matches to accomplish the feat. Isner averages 17.4 aces per match, the second highest in history, and currently holds the world-record for the most aces in a match with the 113 he served during his marathon Wimbledon match in 2010.
Isner reached the milestone in the Quarterfinals of the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston against fellow American Steve Johnson. Isner will look to surpass Goran Ivanisevic for third place (122) on the ATP World Tour all-time aces list later this month as clay court season continues.
To celebrate the outstanding achievement, FILA created commemorative “10,000 Aces” T-shirts as a giveaway for ball kids and fans at the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston.
