(FILA Global) - FILA sponsored athlete Ashleigh Barty secured her second career WTA Singles Championship victory Sunday in Nottingham, Great Britain after defeating number four seed Johanna Konta at the Nature Valley Open. The win marks Barty’s first singles victory this year and third title overall in 2018.
 
“I feel great today – coming into a final, the adrenaline gets you going, but I feel like I’ve been playing well all week,” said Barty of the state of her game ahead of the year’s third grand slam in London. “It’s been building and building and getting better and better each match.”
 
Barty, the number one overall seed entering the tournament, defeated Stefanie Vögele, Duan Yingying, Katie Boulter and Naomi Osaka en route to the final victory over Konta. Barty dug deep late in the third set to win five straight crucial points after Konta evened the set at 4-4.
 
“I have really fond memories of it and always feel like I’ve played well here,” Barty noted after making her return to Nottingham. “To come away with the trophy again is really exciting.”
 
With the win, Barty moves up one spot in the WTA Rankings to World No. 16.
