(FILA North America) - FILA and Salvin Shoes have launched a limited-edition footwear style to coincide with the company’s 90th Anniversary. Salvin’s has been recognized as a Hartford landmark and the shoes are meant to honor the city, while also drawing creative inspiration from the Hartford Whalers, a professional ice hockey team that had been based in Hartford, Connecticut.
For this collaboration, FILA’s iconic Original Fitness silhouette was designed in white, with pops of sodalite blue and fern green hues, the team colors that were associated with the Hartford Whalers. Sodalite blue and fern green appear throughout the footwear, including FILA logo hits on the shoe’s tongue and quarter, as well as a dual-colored FILA flag. “Salvins” is embroidered on the back of the left shoe in fern green, while “Hartford” is embroidered on the right shoe in the same color. The left sock liner is decorated with “90 Years” while the right sock liner is embellished with “Salvins.” Additional design elements include a gum rubber bottom. To further pay homage to Hartford, a custom shoe box was also created for this launch and features a map of the city.
In continuing the 90th Anniversary celebration, 90 pairs of the FILA Original Fitness x Salvin’s shoes were made, with a retail price of $90. The footwear will be available beginning on November 3, exclusively at the Salvin Shoes retail location in Harford, CT.

Salvin Shoes, established in 1927, has served the Hartford community for over eight decades. Founded just before the great depression, Herman Salvin had a vision of providing affordable footwear to the neighborhood. Over the years, generations of families have purchased their first pair of shoes at Salvins. In 1998, the Salvin family retired and sold the store to Joan Shoham, a veteran in the industry.
