Horacio Zeballos Claims Doubles Title in Rome for Third Career Masters 1000 Victory

(FILA Luxembourg S.à r.l.) - FILA Argentina sponsored tennis player Horacio Zeballos and partner Marcel Granollers won the Internazionali BNL d’Italia men’s doubles title Sunday in Rome, defeating the team of Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin in the final 6-4, 5-7, 10-8.

Competing in their fourth final in as many clay-court tournaments this year, the duo became the only team to capture multiple ATP Tour trophies in 2020. Before their incredible run this week in Rome, Zeballos and Granollers had already claimed back-to-back titles at the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires and the Rio Open in February.

With the victory, Zeballos – the Doubles World No. 4 – extended his unbeaten record to 3-0 in Masters 1000 finals. Last year, not only was he victorious with Granollers in Montreal, but he also won the BNP Paribas Open title alongside Nikola Mektic.

Also in action in Rome, World No. 15 Diego Schwartzman stunned the top-seeded Rafael Nadal in the men’s singles quarterfinals, and defeated an in-form Denis Shapovalov in the semifinals to advance to the championship match, where he fell to World No. 1 Novak Djokovic 7-5, 6-3. On the women’s side, defending champion Karolina Pliskova reached the final against Simona Halep, where she was forced to retire mid-match due to injury.

FILA sponsored pickleball player Lucy Kovalova also had a successful weekend, as she collected a gold medal in Women’s Doubles and a silver medal in Mixed Doubles at the Georgia Open tournament this past weekend.
