FILA s Sofia Kenin Continues Career Year with Doubles Title in Beijing

(FILA Luxembourg S.à r.l.) - FILA sponsored tennis player Sofia Kenin continued her dominant 2019 season by winning the doubles title at the China Open in Beijing alongside partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands. The pair defeated Jelena Ostapenko / Dayana Yastremska 6-3, 7-6 (5), 10-7 in the championship match. FILA is the Official Supplier to the China Open, which is the final WTA Premier Mandatory event of the year.

In their first tournament playing together, Kenin and Mattek-Sands defeated a host of talented teams, including the No. 3-seeded Elise Mertens / Aryna Sabalenka – who won at Indian Wells earlier this year and recently captured their first Grand Slam as a pair in New York – as well as the No. 5 seeded Anna-Lena Groenefeld / Demi Schuurs.

Kenin – currently ranked a career-high World No. 16 in singles – is in the midst of a breakout season. Ranked outside the Top 50 at the start of the year, Kenin has played the best tennis of her career in 2019, enjoying success in both singles and doubles. The 20-year-old boasts three singles titles on the year (Hobart, Mallorca, Guangzhou), to go along with her doubles victories in Beijing and Auckland.
