FILA + Bgirl Alessandra Chillemi Partner Up for Paris
(FILA Luxembourg S.à r.l.) - FILA has always championed new forms of sport. A new partnership with Alessandra Chillemi recognizes the athleticism and artistry of breakdancing.
FILA and Alessandra Chillemi have signed a new sponsorship agreement that will accumulate in the breakdancer’s debut at the Paris Olympics in 2024 – the first time breakdancing will be included on the Games’ agenda. The 23-year-old from Messina, Italy, better known as Bgirl, was recently crowned Italian Breakdancing Champion at the Riccione Absolute Championships.
Throughout her career, Chillemi has been passionate about endorsing breakdancing as an Olympic sport with the mantra; We deserve the Games because we dance like artists, but we train like real athletes. Her dream has finally been realized – and FILA’s street and urban wear collections will outfit her on her journey to Paris.
"I’m really proud to join the FILA family,” said Chillemi. “I love the brand for its history and for always bringing innovation to sports, and supporting athletes from various disciplines who have changed the history of sports. I really like their fresh, outside-the-box style that aligns perfectly with mine".
Alessandra Chillemi will not only be supported by FILA during competitions but also championed as a brand ambassador and inspiration to young women everywhere.
Throughout their long history, FILA has always been hugely supportive of women in sport, starting with breakthrough athletes such as the indigenous Australian tennis player Evonne Goolagong to a recent sponsorship agreement with Suzanne Schulting, the short track speed skater known as the ‘Flying Dutchwoman’.
Athletes that play to their own beat are what drives FILA – and as Chillemi has shown by her dedication, discipline and artistry, there are many beats still to be played!
