FILA's Barbora Krejcikova Wins Grand Slam Doubles Title in New York, Completes Career Golden Slam
(FILA Luxembourg S.à r.l.) - FILA sponsored player Barbora Krejcikova won her ninth career Grand Slam doubles title this past weekend in New York, taking home the championship alongside her longtime partner and Czech countrymate Katerina Siniakova. The Czech duo’s 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory earns them the monumental feat of completing the career ‘Golden Slam’ in the Women’s Doubles competition, having already won past major championships together in Melbourne (2022), Paris (2018, 2021) and London (2018, 2022) in addition to a gold medal victory in Tokyo last summer.
Krejcikova’s achievement of the ‘Golden Slam’ cements her name in history alongside the sport’s all-time greats, as only two other women’s doubles pairings have completed the feat in their career (Pam Shriver/Gigi Fernandez and Serena Williams/Venus Williams). Krejcikova now boasts 13 career WTA doubles titles at just 26-years-old, in addition to a resume that includes a Grand Slam Singles title (Paris 2021) and three Grand Slam Mixed Doubles titles (Melbourne 2019, 2020, 2021).
Additionally, FILA's John Peers won the Mixed Doubles competition alongside fellow Australian Storm Sanders. This marks the doubles specialist's first Grand Slam title in Mixed Doubles, although Peers is a past Grand Slam champion in Men’s Doubles (Melbourne 2017).
Sponsored player Neal Skupski also put together his best career Men’s Doubles performance at a Grand Slam tournament, reaching the final with his playing partner Wesley Koolhof but ultimately coming up short to the No. 1 ranked doubles pair of Rajeev Ram/Joe Salisbury.
