(FILA Korea) -

Global Sports Brand FILA is in the midst of officially sponsoring Dutch “Ice Skating Emperor” Sven Kramer, who entered Korea via the Incheon International Airport on January 30. Approximately two years have passed since he last met his fans in Korea.

Kramer arrived in Korea for the second time, to participate in the test event for the Pyeongchang Olympics, the 2017 ISU (International Skating Union) World Single Distance Championships. The event is set to take place in Gangneung, from February 9 -12. Sven’s first visit to Korea was in November 2014. The interest in Kramer continues to increase, after it was disclosed that he is currently under negotiations to be the honorary ambassador of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics with the organizing committee.

Kramer, the world’s number 1 ranked speed skater, has won three gold medals at the three Winter Olympic Games where he has competed. Additionally, he has secured two silver medals and two bronze medals, for a total of seven medals at the Winter Olympics. Kramer is considered to be the greatest athlete among the long distance active runners and he has acquired all 17 gold medals of the world distance event. His accolades also include winning an all-time men’s record of eight World Allround Championships.

Recently, Kramer claimed the gold medal at this season’s 5,0000m World Cup Series. With all of this success, he has retained his reputation as the “Ice Skating Emperor,” leading to increased expectations not only for his performance at the world championships, but also as it relates to the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

After Kramer arrived at Incheon Airport, he stated, “I am happy and extremely grateful that so many people have arrived to greet me after such a long time since I was in Korea. Whilst it is guaranteed that I strive to evidence a positive display at this tournament, I am also interested in producing an exquisite performance at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics to reward fans for their continued support.”

FILA is currently sponsoring the Republic of Korea National Skating Team and Sven Kramer affiliated Netherlands Skating Team for the upcoming 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. Additionally, FILA is set to provide the two teams with the Olympic Suit, which was crafted from the world’s best technology. The national teams are set to wear this suit into matches, creating heightened interest.

FILA has been sponsoring the Republic of Korea National Skating Team since 2012, as the sponsor of the Korea Skating Union. Furthermore, it has entered a sponsorship contract agreement since 2014 with the Sven Kramer affiliated Netherlands Skating Federation (KNSB). FILA is also the official partner of the Netherlands skating national team, including speed skating, short track, inline skating and national team inline skating players.

In an effort to provide the highest quality of sports apparel, FILA is working with the Netherlands expert sports apparel company, Sportconfex. The Olympic Suit produced by Sportconfex is particularly renowned among the sports apparel produced and is recognized for exhibiting world class technology. It can be concluded that the Netherlands is so dominant as an ice skating nation due in part to its strong connection to Sportconfex.

FILA is currently investing vast amounts of R&D resources into joint research development into a Olympic Suit for both national teams for the purposes of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. The aforementioned Olympic Suit is set to be released in the latter half of 2017. The weight and air resistance have been minimized and the suit has been custom designed for athletes on a 1:1 basis, in order to reduce excess discomfort and produce quality performance. There is substantial material with body armor functions, utilized so that players are secure from the skate blades onwards. The fabric technology material was constructed to be lightweight, in order for natural skating movements.
