(FILA Korea) - FILA sponsors the Netherlands’ Royal Dutch Skating Association (KNSB) and the national skating team for the Republic of Korea. The teams were outfitted in FILA apparel from February 9 to February 12, at the test event for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and the 2017 International Skating Union (ISU) World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships, which took place at the Gangneung Oval.
The Netherlands National Team, along with renowned speed skating champion Sven Kramer, secured a total of 15 medals during the International Skating Union World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships. They received eight gold medals, three silver medals and four bronze medals, which ultimately led to their first place victory. This commanding performance from the Netherlands has solidified its credibility as a dominant force in the sport of speed skating.
Sven Kramer was victorious throughout the championships, finishing with two gold medals in the 5,000m and 10,000m categories. He also achieved a bronze medal in the 15,000m category.
The Korean national team achieved positive results at the competition as well. Korean women’s speed skating athlete Bo-Reum Kim, won a gold medal in the mass start category, while Sang-hwa Lee, also referred to as the Korean Skating empress, achieved a silver medal in the 500m category.
The Royal Dutch Skating Association and the Korea Skating Union have gained positive momentum in 2017, especially after the results from the Single Distances Speed Skating Championships. There is much anticipation for the upcoming performances by both teams, at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
FILA, along with the Dutch company Sportconfex, are currently in the midst of developing the ‘FILA Olympic Suit.’ The suit produced by Sportconfex is particularly renowned among the sports apparel produced, and is recognized for exhibiting world class technology. The ‘FILA Olympic Suit’ will be provided for the Netherlands and Korean National Teams when they compete at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
