(FILA Global) - Currently at a career-high world ranking of No. 12, Sam Querrey reached the final of the inaugural New York Open before falling on Sunday in a third-set tiebreak to now World No. 9 Kevin Anderson.
"[It was] a couple points here and there," Querrey said after the match according to the ATP World Tour
. "The way he plays it doesn’t let you play that much because he goes so much, so you don’t really get that comfortable out there. But it could have gone either way."
The two players last met in the quarterfinal of the US Open last summer, another closely contested match that included three tie-break sets before the eventual tournament runner-up Anderson clinched the match.
At the FILA sponsored Argentina Open, fellow Argentines Horacio Zeballos and Andres Molteni captured their home title in Buenos Aires on Sunday. They defeated the two-time defending champions Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in a match tiebreak to take the title in front of family and friends.
"It is special to play here," said Zeballos after the match according to the ATP World Tour
. "It's something unique, with all those who are supporting us and it is always a joy to raise a trophy. All my family and my friends are in the crowd and I am very happy to win at my club."
Zeballos and Molteni are undefeated as a team, however this was only their second tournament playing together. They also won the tournament in Atlanta in 2016.
