On the first day of the World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships, (KST) Kramer claimed the gold medal in the 5000m category, with a recorded time of 6 minutes and 6.82 seconds. Fellow Royal Dutch Skating Federation (KNSB) affiliated athlete Ireen Wust, also secured a gold medal in the women’s 3000m category of the competition. She recorded a time of 3 minutes and 59.5 seconds. FILA actively sponsors the Royal Dutch Skating Federation (KNSB). The KNSB affiliated male and female players, including Sven Kramer, won medals on the first day of the competition, indicating a positive early start to the championship.
